Hackintosh Kernel Panic with Zephyroth 10.5.1 AMD64

February 13th, 2008 · 2 Comments · AMD64, Hackintosh, Zephyroth

I am building a Hackintosh on an Asus M2N-SLI deluxe using Zephyroth 10.5.1

DumpPanic[28] : Error getting a reference to IODeviceTree:/options

panic(cpu0 caller 0x001a8387): Kernel trap at 0x39b1f5bc, type 14=page fault, registers:
//backtrace

BSD process name corresponding to current thread: kernel_task

Mac OS version:
9B18

Kernel version:
Darwin Kernel Version 9.1.0: Fri Nov 16 14:50:43 SCT 2007; made by ToH:xnu-1228.0.2~1/BUILD/obj/RELEASE_I386

Things I’ve tried (with no success!):

  • Switching to PATA. The PATA is recognized, but the SATA is NOT!
  • Disabling EVERYTHING in the bios that I can live without
  • Using the disk utility to re-format/re-partition the HDD; with little success. The disk utiliy wasn’t able to work with the SATA, but it did play with the PATA.
  • I am currently installing on a 2 partition scheme with PATA and using the boot option “cpus=1″.

Here are some great resources for Zephyroth 10.5.1 on AMD64:

    Hi, I’m having these kernel panics with my hackintosh as well.. and that IODeviceTree:/options problem. Do you know how to solve this? I’m on 10.5.6. Thanks!
