i have itunes 7 installed in latest wine, works with store and iphone

was force installed by a program called pzizz downloaded – thats the only reason i know it works, but i did not have any luck with itunes 8

I have installed itunes 801 with wine 1.129 ?(the newest one in september 2009) in ubuntu 9.04

First was to install itunes 7.3 for win2000 and then, without erasing or deinstalling anything , installing itunes8.01

It works , the shop, podcasts, but without recognizing ipod

This doesn’t connect to the store on Ubuntu 9.04, which is a darned shame, since it comes so close!! Ahhh I’m going to have to reinstall windows…. *sob*

It doesnt work for Ubuntu 9.04!
I tried to start itunes with “wine iTunes” but he hangs @

Thanks for posting this. My dad is oddly attached to iTunes, so this let me install it on his system. Worked just fine under 9.04 too.

AFAIK, .m4p files are DRM’d, while .m4a’s are free. Generally, nothing on Ubuntu can play DRM’d files – this may have changed since last I heard, though, and I’m not sure about iTunes itself. But yeah, .m4p is protected, .m4a is not.

Hi Huanix,

I just noticed that I can play just one file from my iTunes library. This file is of a “.m4a” type while all the others are “.m4p”.
Does this mean anything?
