I’ve decided that I’m going to apply these skills to a blog to advertise my school to prospective job seekers. The new blog (as-of-yet unnamed) will have several characteristics that huanix lacks.. a coherent theme, pre-selected key words, links, and graphics. I have even considered recruiting some teachers to work with me to develop a web-ring using selected key words and targeted links to draw people to our wonderful school.

My traffic is still really low, but I have been crawled by two spiders. I was crawled by Googlebot, and by something called SurveyBot, which I’m not familiar with. When I looked it up, it reported to be a statistics tracking crawler – at this point any traffic is welcome. I have 11 unique IP’s on www.SL7PM.com, and no unique traffic on www.huanix.com – but I don’t believe it’s linked to the internet ANYWHERE.

I’m sort of depressed to realize that I’m shifting gears away from pure programming and into webmastering, but I won’t sweat it – I am used to allowing myself to switch gears on a monthly basis.

I’m going to spend the rest of the evening with PEAR. Maybe I’ll talk about it tomorrow. I’m noticing that while I’m creating a site to generate traffic, I’m not using any php in the page… I guess that makes sense- my biggest goal is to generate traffic, not to provide the perfect piece of information.
