I’m running a Hackintosh setup on a P5W DH Deluxe, Dual 2.66 processor w/ 4GB ram. It is a nice setup and gets the job done. After my initial setup issues (network issues that caused me to use an intel GA311 instead of the onboard NICS), I had no problems for a few weeks, so I began to tinker. BTW – I’m also running the 10.5.2 ComboUpdate without issues.

Here are the changes I’m aware of:

At some point my System information began recognizing my processor as Dual 2.16 rather than 2.67, even though BIOS is correct.

I switched from a Mac keyboard/mouse to a Generic USB keyboard mouse – i only even thought of this because some folks pointed out that their issues were related to PS2 keyboards… i doubt my issue is related.

After getting the setup running stable I added a 80GB SATA drive and turned on time machine. It worked fine while the machine was running, but I did a restart after a couple days of uptime and entered the reboot loop. (Follow up – Time machine appears to work well now, at least when I boot into tohkernel).

I installed XCode from the Apple repository so I could run MacPorts. The install failed after several hours and I don’t recall the fail point.

I also updated iTunes from the Updater, but I doubt this could cause the problem.

After careful consideration, I’m going to believe my mistake was the XCode install. It failed, and that’s an obvious sign it ran into trouble in the system. Because I’m running Kalyway on a mission critical computer (and I am frankly not that skilled with the mac framework), I’m going to continue booting with tohkernel until I rebuild or find a satisfactory solution. If I get aggravated with the process I may try a rebuild and replicate on a different drive.

Just for fun, here’s a pic of my Kalyway Hackintosh on tohkernel (with 10.5.2ComboUpdate) running Ubuntu Linux in Innotek VirtualBox :
